Bhatti Gate is one of the 13 gates of Walled city Lahore..Its name is because of the tribe Bhaat who used to live there.From the history of Rajputana and Kashmir. We can find thatin the past Lahore was the territory of Hindus. Bhaat was a Hindutribe. kernel tod had mentioned a name called Canninction in the history of Rajasthanwho migrated from Lahore in the middle period of the Second century. He was one of the princes of Rajput Cast forefathers., who laid down the foundation of Rajputs. There is no doubt, Lahore is one of the old cities of Pakistan. However, it is not easy to say about the beginning of Lahore.Bhatti Gate is the southwestern gate of the walled city of Lahore. In the East, there is a Mori Gate and in the northwest, there is another gate i.e. Taxali Gate. The direction of the building of Bhatti Gate is towards the south.Coming from a circular road we see Bhatti Gate, on the left side there we see a mosque. In the north of Bhatti Gate, there is a world-famous mosque i.e. Badshani mosque, and outside of the Bhatti Gate there is a shrine of Hazrat Ali Bin Usman ( Data Ali Hajwari R.a)In the reign of Mughal king Akbar, Lahore had nine passages and two of these passages were linked to Bhatti Gate. Half eastern part was of Mubara Khan and the western part was of Talwara.The building that we now see, was built in the period of Britain according to the British Colonial style. The Arch of entrance gate of Bhatti Gate is like rebatic arch style. that is similar to Kashmiri and Shairawala Gate. No doubt these gates were built in the 19th century. In the old times. there were rooms for living at the Gates but in the case of Bhatti gate, there are no rooms for living.The most striking feature of the Bhatti Gate building is its big and prominent arch. its length is 57m that is biggestes than all other existing gates.
